01 / CORPORATE HISTORY

A history of implied progress

Founded in 1979, L/I Computer Corporation emerged during an era when personal computing was an expensive solution in search of a sufficiently interesting problem.

ARCHIVE INTEGRITY: VERIFIED // PRIMARY TIMELINE
1979

Origins of L/I

The corporation was established to develop computing systems capable of addressing problems not yet fully defined. Its earliest engineering notes described this approach as “proactive uncertainty management.”

1981

The first systems

Early L/I machines gained attention for their uncompromising industrial construction, unusual diagnostic capabilities, and documentation that occasionally referred to revisions not yet released.

1983

T.J.B. Software Solutions

Software development became a distinct division. The new subsidiary was charged with making increasingly complex systems useful, predictable, and—where possible—repeatable.

1996

The network era

L/I expanded into connected infrastructure and enterprise systems. One archived memorandum credits a successful network migration to “the unexpected cooperation of all participating machines.”

2026

A continuing experiment

The corporation's present portfolio connects communication, financial organization, and everyday computing under a single guiding idea: progress is most valuable when it can be understood.

02 / SOFTWARE DIVISION

T.J.B. Software Solutions

“Progress Is Merely a Controlled Malfunction.”

Established in 1983, T.J.B. translates ambitious systems engineering into practical software. Its work spans applications, automation, and the disciplined study of unexpected results.

Its internal quality program is said to have originated after a demonstration performed flawlessly on a machine that was not connected to power. The incident remains classified as inconclusive.
